Emeritus Professor Michael Ward
Born in England and trained as a gastroenterologist at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh, Emeritus Professor Wardmigrated with his family to Australia in 1977.
He has previously held positions as Director of Gastroenterology Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Director of Medicine at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Head of Central Clinical Division of the University of Queensland School of Medicine, Interim Program Director for the Qld Health Skills Development Centre, Senior Director of Queensland Health Clinical Practice Improvement Centre and Commissioner of the Health Quality and Complaints Commission in Queensland.
His research interests and publications have related to clinical gastroenterology, healthcare systems, and the safety and quality of patient care.
In 2008 he was awarded a Public Service Medal for 'Outstanding public service to health services in Queensland.'
