Last Friday, Mater Education was proud to present more than 90 nursing and anaesthetic technology graduates with their diplomas, surrounded by family and friends.
For many, the day marked beginning of a new chapter and an opportunity for graduates to reflect on their individual journeys. Many described the initial stages as overwhelming and challenging, attributing their success and accomplishments to the support of their fellow graduates and the Mater Education team.
In her address to the graduates, Mater Health’s Director of Nursing Surgical & Acute Care Nursing, Arna Chauncey shared a philosophy that has guided her career.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been presented with a number of opportunities that may not have seemed like the right or obvious path for me at the time; but every time, I asked myself ‘why not?’. Through this thinking, I’ve had the privilege to take on roles that have led to more open doors and a wealth of opportunity... As you embark on this next chapter, remember to be open to challenges and always ask yourself ‘why not?’. You may find new paths to explore and problems to solve, that are full of reward and opportunity and accomplishment.
Throughout their studies, these Diploma of Nursing and Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology students have shown great commitment and passion to quality patient care, and we wish them the very best, as they prepare for their new careers.
