HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Learning resuscitation skills or renewing your Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate?

Mater Education offers you the nationally recognised HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. 

Who should attend?
This course is designed for:

•    businesses requiring personnel trained in CPR
•    school employees
•    child care centre employees
•    community organisations
•    sports and recreation Clubs
•    students entering a health program.

Entry requirements

As part of our enrolment requirements you must:

  • be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English at a competent standard
  • be able to physically perform the act of CPR on both adult and infant resuscitation manikins placed on the floor (at least two minutes on each)
  • provide written permission from a parent or guardian (if you’re under the age of 14).

Please note: if you are completing the First Aid course, CPR is included, therefore you do not need to enrol in this course as well

Learning Outcome

You’ll gain the skills and knowledge you need to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

When you successfully complete this Nationally Recognised Training you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.


Your assessment will include a mix of multiple-choice questions, role play and physically demonstrating CPR using a model of the human body (resuscitation manikin).

You must be able to demonstrate uninterrupted CPR on both adult and infant resuscitation manikins placed on the floor. So you should wear comfortable clothing when attending the course.

Duration and cost

The course is delivered over two hours, and includes additional pre-course learning (online).
Note: this course is the first component of the First Aid course; if you are enrolled in First Aid, you  will stay on to complete the remaining components.
