Perineal Suturing

Perineal tears are a common outcome of vaginal births, making the assessment and repair of perineal trauma in postpartum women vital practice skills for both medical officers and midwives.

Mater Education’s interactive Perineal Suturing workshop has been designed to give participants the opportunity to consolidate their perineal tear knowledge and refine their clinical practice skills. Under the guidance of our team of interprofessional education experts, workshop participants undertake immersive simulation training in best practice, evidence-based perineal suturing techniques.

Key areas of learning and skills development include:

  • anatomy of the female pelvic floor
  • types and classification of perineal trauma
  • assessment of perineal trauma
  • repair of perineal trauma
  • women centred care
  • perineal repair practice using manikins.

Who should attend?

Our Perineal Suturing workshop is designed for clinicians and medical staff who perform perineal repair. This includes Medical Officers and Registered Midwives.
