Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Advanced Life Support (ALS) training arms clinicians with the skills they need to provide urgent treatment when faced with cardiac emergencies such as cardiac arrest, stroke, and myocardial infarction. The Mater Education Advanced Life Support (ALS) course has been designed to meet Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation care (however not an Accredited Course Centre registered with the ARC).

Delivered by our team of highly trained educators, the course employs the use of simulation training to consolidate learnings with real-life application. The course is delivered in our world-class medical simulation facility, and facilitated by our education and medical simulation experts. On completion participants will be able to demonstrate:

  • basic life support
  • management of the deteriorating patient
  • advanced airway management
  • rhythm interpretation
  • effective and safe defibrillation
  • delivery of care in accordance to ARC guidelines and algorithms (Not an Accredited Course Centre registered with the ARC)
  • crisis resource management theory and application through immersive simulation
  • how to identify, discuss and administer appropriate emergency drugs, including intraosseous insertion and management
  • reflection on practice
  • post-resuscitation care and considerations.

Who should attend?

Our Advanced Life Support course is designed for clinicians working in critical care or those expected to lead a team during a medical emergency. This includes medical officers, registered nurses, GP’s and paramedics.
