Foundational ECG Interpretation

In this interactive workshop, participants will learn the foundational skills required to perform and interpret a 12 lead ECG, and recognising ECG changes that may be consistent with life threatening arrhythmias and myocardial injury.

An experienced clinical facilitator will present current evidence-based theory using case studies and practical activities. Participants will also receive a comprehensive manual and workbook.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for participants requiring foundational ECG interpretation skills. These include clinicians working in general medical, acute care, emergency and cardiac environments, such as:

  • nurses
  • midwives
  • junior doctors
  • cardiac technicians
  • paramedics
  • GPs and practice nurses
  • students in healthcare courses
Course structure
  • normal cardiac function and electrophysiology
  • obtaining a 12 lead ECG tracing, including troubleshooting.
  • foundational cardiac rhythm recognition to determine normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms
  • recognising life threatening arrhythmias and acute ECG changes

This program will provide 7 CPD hours.
