Maternity Emergency Management: Introduction to Crisis Resource Management 

This hands-on interactive program implements Crisis Resource Management (CRM) principles and human factors throughout skill stations, immersive scenarios and reflective debriefs to help interprofessional teams manage a range of maternity emergencies.

This program enables the application of clinical and teamwork skills learnt in the Maternity Emergency Management Essentials programsNon-haemorrhagic Obstetric Emergencies and Haemorrhagic Obstetric Emergencies.

This program is held in a realistic clinical environment in our world-class medical simulation facility, and facilitated by our interprofessional educational and simulation experts.

Workshop structure

Maternity Emergency Management (MEM) provides attendees with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills required to manage a variety of maternity emergencies, such as:

  • Eclampsia
  • Haemorrhage
  • Shoulder dystocia
  • Breech birth
  • and other birth suite emergencies.

Participants will gain hands on experience with skills stations, immersive simulation and supported structured debriefings to support reflective practice and application to the real-world.

This is an interprofessional program delivered by an interprofessional team of expert clinicians, with expertise in simulation based education.

Learning outcome & accreditation

Upon completion, you will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG)
Approved for 7.5 PD/CPD points in the Clinical Expertise/Meeting category of the RANZCOG CPD program.
