Debriefing Fundamentals Workshop

Debriefing Fundamentals Workshop aims to enhance your debriefing skills and confidence. During the workshop you will have the opportunity to consider your debriefing strengths, challenges you currently face in conducting debriefing, and develop strategies to improve your debriefing. This eight hour workshop utilises evidence-based debriefing techniques, with learners provided experiential learning opportunities to practice and receive feedback on their debriefing.
Who should attend?
The course is relevant to any person who is considering or required to conduct simulation debriefing.

It is recommend for participants who have successfully completed Introduction to Simulation Methodology, Simulation as a Teaching Tool, NHET Sim or equivalent.
Course structure
  • Learn how to create and maintain a psychologically safe learning environment
  • Review evidence-based debriefing techniques including  the debriefing micro-cycle, advocacy inquiry, PEARLS, Plus/Delta, Pause and Discuss, Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice, and when to utilise  these for different debriefing purposes
  • Practice different debriefing techniques throughout the workshop
  • Discuss scenario development to ensure learning and debriefing outcomes are met
This 8 hour workshop will be delivered using simulation, small group activities and provide networking activities.
Accreditation
Participants may be able to self-allocate continuing professional development hours as per the requirements of their professional body.
