High School Health Adventure Allied Health Experience

Are you a year 10, 11 or 12 student interested in a career in the dynamic and fast-paced world of healthcare? Are you considering a career in the Allied Health professions? Mater Education’s intensive one day Allied Health Program Experience course will take you inside this challenging and rewarding fields so you can explore your options. Some of the Allied Health professions you will be exposed to include:

  • physiotherapy
  • occupational therapy
  • audiology
  • pharmacy
  • social work.

High School Health Adventure is a program that has been designed to create a realistic experience of 'a day in the life' of a health professional. The utilisation of simulation with manikins, skills stations, digital technology and case-based scenarios help to create this real-world learning in a unique environment for high school students.

This experience will cover basic health professional understanding with a focus on the Allied Health pathways. Delivered on-site at Mater Education’s world-class medical simulation facility, the course is hands-on, you will get to experience and understand the impact Allied Health teams make on their patients.

The Allied Health pathways represents a burgeoning field of healthcare—we’ll introduce you to the broad scope and variety of roles that exist in this space. For example, you will find Allied Health teams in emergency departments, in women’s health (including pre and post birth), and in workplaces and schools. As this course will show you, the opportunities to carve out a dynamic career as any one of our Allied Health specialties.

Students will have access to current practicing clinicians including physiotherapist, pharmacists, social workers and occupational therapist, who will be able to share their experience as a health professional and provide an opportunity for the students to ask questions.

This program is delivered on-site at Mater Education’s world class medical simulation facility and you'll be immersed in this fast-paced world, learning about healthcare.

Who should attend?

Our High School Health Adventure Allied Health Experience course is designed for years 10, 11 and 12 high school students looking to explore a career in Allied Health. Some of the Allied Health professions you will be exposed to include, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, audiology, pharmacy and social work.

  • This is a one day course delivered by an interprofessional team using simulation and small group activities to highlight educational pathways and requirements to a career in Allied Health.
