Advanced Instructor Course (AIC)

This simulator instructor training is designed to prepare leaders in simulation-based education to develop their own debriefing and feedback skills and contribute to strategic management and development of simulation programs in their organisation.

The course is delivered as a collaborative effort between Mater Education and the world renowned Centre for Medical Simulation in Boston, USA. Using cutting-edge educational theory and practice, the course presents participants with a conceptual framework and employs repeated micro-cycles of practice and feedback on debriefing, scenarios, and strategic challenges to accelerate skill acquisition.

The course is structured to allow participants to experience a model of peer-led and mentor-led “community of inquiry”. The coursework builds on instructional techniques learnt in the Healthcare Simulation Essentials: Design and Debriefing and Simulation as a Teaching Tool courses, available through the Centre for Medical Simulation.

*Updated Advanced Instructor Course, formerly known as Advanced Debriefing Course.

Mater Education is an Affiliate Partner of the internationally  renowned Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) in Boston,  USA. As the only Affiliate Partner in Australia and one of only  three in the world, Mater Education and its alumni have an  exclusive level of access to the resources, skills, advice and  experience of a team who are international leaders in the  field of clinical simulation.
