Experience a day in the life of a healthcare professional!
Explore professions in nursing, pathology and allied health at Mater Health Hub, Springfield; our first purpose-built education, health and wellbeing facility.
Gain first-hand experience of the range of roles on offer and participate in activities taught by Mater educators and clinicians in our state-of-the-art facility:
- Setting up an IV drip and injections
- Try your hand at suturing and dressing wounds
- Bed making and using slide sheets
- Practice taking and interpreting vital signs
- Learn how to collect pathology specimens in our dedicated pathology lab
- Tour our facility visiting our specialists' suites and allied health and wellbeing service, and learn about how healthcare professionals are responding to current and emerging health needs in the community

Spend a day in the fast-paced world of nursing, where you can gain first-hand experience of the range of roles on offer.
Participate in activities taught by Mater nurses and educators:
- Setting up an IV drip and injections
- Experience an operation on a medical mannikin as a theatre and recovery nurse
- Try your hand at suturing and dressing wounds
- Bed making and using slide sheets
- Performing life-saving intervention on a medical manikin as a emergency department nurse

- Learn how to respond when an emergency occurs during birth

Course information
Our one-day experiences are delivered by an interprofessional team of expert clinicians and educators. We use simulation and small group activities to highlight educational pathways and requirements to a career in the specialty of your choosing.
