Dr Sarah Janssens

Sarah is a clinician, researcher, and leading light in Mater Education’s dynamic team of medical simulation educators.

In 2017 she spent six months undertaking a fellowship at the world’s hub for medical simulation education in Boston, Massachusetts, where she gained skills in the latest simulation training techniques. She has been able to bring these exclusive skills back and inject them into various Mater Education programs.

In her role as Clinical Simulation Director Sarah’s work ranges from using simulation to enhance procedural skills to utilising the technique to improve leadership and teamwork in emergency situations.

Alongside this she works as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital.

Sarah’s doctoral research in simulation education explores how clinicians share leadership in health care emergencies.

As Chair of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Simulation Training Advisory Group she delivers strong advocacy for simulation-based medical training at a national level.
