Prestigious appointment for Melanie Barlow

News

Mater Education Programs Manager Melanie Barlow has been appointed the Deputy Chair of the Australian Society for Simulation in Healthcare (ASSH), a specialist community of Simulation Australasia, the peak body of simulation in Australia.

“On a personal level, I’m honoured to be Deputy Chair. My appointment also recognises Mater Education as a key player in leading the way in simulation in clinical education in Australia,” Melanie said.

“Simulation in clinical education is growing internationally and my goal is to further grow and develop simulation in healthcare.

“I aim to not only assist clinicians in improving and furthering their knowledge, skills and attitudes as individuals and in interprofessional teams, but also to use simulation to help identify latent system issues, to improve the systems and processes that support our clinical staff to provide safer and more efficient care.”

As Deputy Chair, Melanie will join the Chair of ASSH in representing healthcare simulation in Australia at both the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare and Global Network in Simulation in Healthcare conferences in 2016.
