Released On: 24/08/2020

Commencing new surgical activity in a healthcare environment can come with new challenges, but thanks to Mater Education’s OptiSim simulated training, the staff at Moreton Day Hospital in North Lakes are prepared to make the transition.

Moreton Day Hospital is an independent hospital, providing health and medical care for people through a range of services and surgeries.

To prepare for the commencement of new general surgical activity, the team utilised leading simulation to emulate a number of real world scenarios onsite, including patient flow, surgical case setup and emergency response calls.

A number of staff at the hospital were put through their paces throughout the day, and reported increased confidence in performing their roles after their experiences in the various scenarios.

Moreton Day Hospital Head of Practice, Peggy Ekeledo-Smith, weighed in on the value of the activity. “We place huge pride in our staff expertise and patient safety. By conducting simulation prior to the launch, it ensures our staff have been trained, are well-rehearsed, and prepared for launch, to provide the best customer experience.”
