Celebrating Healthcare Simulation Week
From 14 September—20 September, Mater Education joined organisations around the world to celebrate Healthcare Simulation Week. This annual celebration recognises global professionals who use simulation to improve the safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare delivery.
Mater Education is a leading provider of healthcare education and training through simulation, with world-class clinical simulation programs, facilities and faculty. Our exclusive partnership with the internationally renowned Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) in Boston, USA, means our alumni have an exclusive level of access to the resources, skills, advice and experience of a team who are international leaders in the field of clinical simulation.
As our preferred methodology of practice, simulation is used across our range of courses and programs. From our career-entry courses to our professional and personal development programs for skilled professionals, simulation is an effective way to improve the delivery of patient care in a safe and realistic manner. Through our unique simulation service, OptiSim, we are able to develop, implement and evaluate simulation programs to help organisations improve their knowledge, skills and teamwork and improve all facets of healthcare delivery.
During the week, we saw Mater Private Hospital Townsville open its doors to a group of Year 11 St Patrick's College students to provide them with a fully immersive simulation experience. Activity continued throughout the week across Queensland, ending with a simulation escape room activity at Mater's South Brisbane campus. With a theme of 'bringing learning to life', the team worked together to rescue their educators who had been taken hostage by the simulation manikins.
