From maternity emergencies to augmented reality—exploring the world of simulation

Members of the Mater Education team were recently invited to present at the Australasian Simulation Congress. The congress brings together a group of Simulation experts across a range of industries to discuss simulated research and development.
Clinical Simulation Director, Dr Sarah Janssens, was interviewed live on stage, discussing the use of simulation training for cervical excision procedures which was performed by herself and Dr Erin Wilson.
Melanie Barlow, Head of Research, Evaluation and Communications, also presented to the congress, along with Stephanie Barwick, Head of Partnerships, Programs and Innovation and Brooke Dench, Human Factors Advisor.

Stephanie Barwick was excited to share Mater Education’s OptiSim achievements with the congress, drawing on examples of process testing across the entire Mater group.

“I find value in connecting with the wider sim community—to build networks; to learn from and with; to share our experience with others and to leave with a refreshed sense of enthusiasm and motivation to continue to do the great work that we do!”

All eight members of the Mater Education team who attended and presented enjoyed meeting with fellow simulation enthusiasts and learn what is new in the simulation space.

“Having SimHealth, SimTech and Serious Games together provided amazing opportunities to check out the fantastic work being undertaken in areas that are less familiar to us”, said Sharon Clipperton, Simulation Manager and Australasian Simulation Congress Convenor.
