Mater Mothers' First Aid for Babies

Considering-a-career-in-healthcare-2.pngEquip yourself with the knowledge and skills to protect your family with this hands-on, two-and-a-half-hour first aid course for babies and toddlers. You’ll learn CPR and other vital skills to help you confidently identify, respond to and manage common infant injuries and emergencies, and recognise when to go to hospital.

Endorsed by leading neonatal critical care specialists and paediatricians, our course equips expecting parents, new parents and families, grandparents and carers with first aid skills to give them the confidence to care for their child in the event of an emergency.

Developed as a collaborative project between Mater Mothers’ Hospital—one of Australia’s largest maternity providers—and Mater Education, our First Aid for Babies course is delivered by experienced midwives, neonatal and paediatric nurses.

You will learn:

  • resuscitation (CPR) for infants and young children
  • choking
  • poisoning
  • burns
  • bleeding
  • fractures
  • allergic reactions
  • respiratory illnesses.

Who should attend?

Our Mater Mothers’ First Aid for Babies course is designed for parents-to-be, carers, grandparents, plus any member of the community who would like to learn First Aid skills tailored to the care of babies and toddlers.
