HLT37315 Certificate III in Health Administration

Develop the skills necessary to support day-to-day operations of a healthcare practice, with a Certificate III in Health Administration.

This course will provide you with the training and skills to work in administrative roles across a range of health centres and practices, such as hospitals, specialist and general practice, aged care facilities, dentists and allied health professions.

This qualification is approved for subsidies under the Queensland Government’s Certificate 3 Guarantee program. Certificate 3 Guarantee provides a government subsidy to allow eligible Queenslanders to obtain their first post-school Certificate III level qualification. Learning outcome

On successful completion you will graduate with a HLT37315 Certificate III in Health Administration qualification that will carry the Nationally Recognised Training logo.

Should you leave the course before your completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment for any units of competence that have been successfully completed, and where tuition fees have been paid in full.

3.  Details of any prior education, including copies of any qualifications, Statements of Attainment or a transcript of completed study and/or your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education awarded for the completion of year 12.
 

Selection

Applicants that address the defined criteria as published and whose answers are clear and informative will progress to the next stage. 

Stage 1: To set you up for success, we'll ask you to undergo a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) evaluation before starting the program. The LLN evaluation will give us an insight into your reading, writing and numeracy skills, and help us plan any extra support you may need to succeed in the program. 

Stage 2: Applicants who display competence at or above Exit Level 2 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both reading and numeracy will be invited to an interview, and complete a written assessment at Mater Education.

To be eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee you must meet the following criteria:

  • not hold or be currently enrolled in a certificate III or higher level qualification (does not include qualifications completed in secondary school)
  • be 15 years or older
  • have completed or left secondary school
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident residing in Queensland, or New Zealand citizen permanently residing in Queensland (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency.

You are eligible for the concession fee if you are eligible for subsidised training, and are listed on an Australian Government Low Income Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you hold a Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, or if you have a disability.

Students will no longer be eligible for a government subsidised training place under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program once they complete the qualification.

Mater Education offers a payment plan for the Certificate III in Health Administration course fees, for full fee paying students. To pay your fees this way you’ll need to make three to five non-refundable payments the first before the start of the course. There are no administration fees or interest charges, and no extra charges for credit card payments. If you’re eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee, fees must be paid upon enrolment.
 

Cancellation and refund policy

Mater Education will provide you with online course materials via our Learning Management System at enrolment but after relevant fees have been paid.

Should you change your mind prior to commencing the program (i.e. you do not access the course materials), a full refund will apply.

If you access the course materials at any time and then change your mind, Mater Education is not obliged to provide you with a refund.
 

Vocational placement consolidates your knowledge within the real or simulated healthcare environment by giving you the opportunity to apply theory to practice. It happens at the end of the course at one of Mater’s hospitals.
 
Your three - five day placement could be in:

  • acute medical
  • acute surgical
  • acute rehabilitation
  • perioperative
  • ward services.

On completion you’ll graduate with a HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance qualification that will carry the Nationally Recognised Training logo. Should you leave the course before you complete it, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for any units of competence you’ve completed.

Program delivery, duration and dates

Delivery
Is through a blended mode with campus based workshops complemented with online resources and assessments that allow the student the ability to apply the assessments within a current workplace or within our simulated workplace environments. 

Duration
Students must complete three modules, each comprising three to four day workshops. Each module is offered every 6-8 weeks throughout the year.  

Students must commence with Module 1, but then can select either Module 2 or 3 in the order they wish to complete the program.

Participants can take up to six months to complete the program. 

Module 1
Three days covering topics core to health administration. This workshop is also equal to the Medical Administration short course Mater Education delivers. 

Module 2
Four days covering topics including communication, work health and safety and responding to difficult situations.

Module 3
Four days covering topics including team work, planning, maintaining financial records, and diversity.


If you have successfully completed Module 1 with Mater Education or another provider, you can apply for credit. You will then only need to complete Modules 2 and 3 to obtain the qualification.
