Katie embarks on her dream career at Mater
At just 19 years old, Katie Pershouse has achieved a major milestone by graduating from Mater Education’s Diploma of Nursing program and securing a coveted graduate position at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.
“It’s a dream come true,” Katie said.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started and making a real difference in people’s lives.”
Katie’s passion for nursing sparked in high school, where she gained two nationally recognised healthcare certificates through Mater Education’s Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) program.
“I absolutely loved it. It really helped me get started in my Diploma of Nursing.”
Now, as a newly qualified enrolled nurse, Katie is eager to begin the next chapter of her journey. Over the next 12 months, she’ll work on the rehabilitation ward as part of the Mater Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program.
“And after the program, I plan on continuing my studies at university to become a registered nurse.”
For Katie, nursing isn’t just a career, it’s a calling.
“To now be able to say I’m an enrolled nurse – it’s amazing.”
