HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

Do you have the skills to respond in an emergency? This course provides the lifesaving skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty.

This fun and practical course is aligned with the Australian Resuscitation Guidelines, and delivered by experts in first aid and resuscitation training. 

These skills are useful for:

  • businesses that need trained first aid personnel
  • community organisations
  • sports and recreation clubs
  • students entering a health program
  • anyone seeking basic first aid knowledge including mums, dads, grandparents and babysitters.

If you want to get your first aid qualification, or renew an existing one, this course is for you.

Entry requirements

To meet enrolment requirements you must:

  • be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English at a competent standard
  • be able to physically perform the act of CPR on both adult and infant resuscitation manikins placed on the floor (at least two minutes on each) 
  • provide written permission from a parent or guardian (if you’re under the age of 14).

Participants are required to complete an online learning module prior to attending a one-day workshop.

You do not need to enrol in CPR when enrolling in First Aid. CPR is included in this course.

What will you learn?

You’ll get the skills and knowledge you need to provide a first aid response including:

  • cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support for adults and children (using a model of the human body)
  • basic health and safety knowledge
  • managing casualties, the incident and other first aiders until medical assistance arrives.

You will also learn what to do when someone is:

  • unconscious
  • choking
  • injured
  • burned
  • having a stroke or heart attack
  • bitten by a spider or snake
  • poisoned.

Note: CPR is included in this First Aid course, therefore you do not need to enrol in both programs. Click here to enrol in CPR only.

Duration and cost

This practical one-day course runs from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Participants are required to complete an online learning module prior to attending the workshop.

$110 per person

Cancellation and refund policy


You’ll be assessed throughout the course and involves a mix of multiple choice questions, role play and physical demonstration. You’ll need to demonstrate your understanding of basic first aid both on your own and as part of a first aid team.

As the course involves practical demonstrations, you need to dress in comfortable clothing and be physically capable of performing resuscitation tasks.

Successfully completing this Nationally Recognised Training will earn you a Statement of Attainment. 

HLTAID003 Provide first aid is valid for three years, it's advisable to update the HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation component every year (as recommended by the  Australian Resuscitation Council).
