Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD)

This interactive workshop will enable healthcare professionals to learn contemporary, evidence-based skills and knowledge in Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs).

Through expert presentations and the opportunity to practice skills in simulation, participants will strengthen their understanding of CVADs, including tunnelled and non-tunnelled catheters and implanted venous ports.

Course structure

This interactive workshop will include:

  • Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC)
  • Hickman Catheters
  • Implanted Venous Ports (Port-a-Cath devices)
  • Central Venous Catheters (CVC)
  • Apheresis Catheters
  • Blood Sampling from a central line
  • Dressing and Complication Management
  • Patient Education
There will also be the opportunity to practice in a simulated environment accessing, de-accessing and dressings of PICCs, POCs and Hickman Catheters.
