Dr Sarah Janssens first recipient of The Center of Medical Simulation Fellowship
Mater Education has been working with The Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) for the last three years and as part of our ongoing partnership key Mater staff have the opportunity to undertake a Fellowship in Boston.
Dr Sarah Janssens, Deputy Director Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital is the first recipient of this program.
Dr Janssens said staff at The Center for Medical Simulation are world experts in the use of simulation to train health care professionals, and there is no better place in the world to train in simulation based education.
“For me, the Fellowship is a really exciting opportunity that no other hospital in Australia is able to offer and I hope to bring back some really positive and exciting things for all patients in the care of Mater clinicians.”
Dr Janssens will spend six months in Boston where she will undertake training and study to become a simulation specialist, advancing her skills as an instructor, debriefer and leader of healthcare simulation based activities.
The CMS Simulation Fellowship in simulation-based healthcare education is designed to provide clinicians with the skills necessary to develop, implement, manage and assess healthcare simulation-based programs.
