Enrolled Nurse graduates entering the healthcare workforce with a unique edge

News

After 18 months study, with most of it taking place amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re proud to be watching our newest graduating cohort take the next step in their healthcare career.

We had the pleasure of speaking to Gareth, who has a long history with healthcare before even beginning study to become an Enrolled Nurse.

Gareth has worked across a range of hospitals in Queensland as Sterilisation Technician. As time went on, his curiosity in the nursing industry grew and he decided to pursue further study to be on the frontline with patients.

“Wanting to become a nurse was really appealing and I was eager to have a more direct patient experience and hands-on career. Nursing can open up so many doors and I’m excited to see where my studies take me – whether it be into other healthcare roles or continued study into a Bachelor of Nursing.”

As he completes his 18 month study journey with Mater Education, he finishes with a new level of perseverance and tenacity.

“I certainly had a unique experience! Studying during a pandemic definitely gave me a new outlook on healthcare and the impact you can make in this industry. Studying on a hospital-based campus was incredibly valuable.”

We wish all of our recent graduates luck in their future as they embark on the next phase of a rewarding healthcare career.
