Improving the screening process for allied health professionals and their patients

News

In order for allied health professionals to provide the best care, a thorough assessment must be undertaken on a patient. This assessment is critical in guiding the rehabilitation process.

Earlier this year, Mater Education’s OptiSim team conducted repeat simulations to process test the newly developed Transdisciplinary Initial Neurological Screening (TINS) tool for allied health professionals.

The TINS tool is a holistic neurological assessment on a patient suspected or diagnosed with a stroke or a transient ischaemic attack. It provides a screening tool to ensure patients receive accurate referrals and improves the overall patient experience during their admission.

The simulation was undertaken with Mater’s neurology clinical team, with the purpose of testing the content of the TINS assessment, and the ability for an experienced clinician to complete an assessment.

OptiSim is a valuable tool in testing healthcare delivery; in this case, the simulation allowed the team to refine and improve a new screening process before being used on real patients. Find out how you can take your healthcare delivery to new heights with OptiSim’s tailored approach.
