Largest Diploma cohort celebrates graduation milestone

Last Thursday, Mater Education was proud to present 107 nursing and anaesthetic technology graduates with their Diploma qualification.

The momentous occasion celebrated the hard work, sacrifice and commitment of each graduate, and was shared with their family, friends and faculty members who supported them throughout their studies.

Mater Health Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Callan Battley officially welcomed the new graduates to the profession, and reflected upon the importance of kindness and recognition throughout his own career.

“Today marks the end of your diploma study and the beginning of a life-changing career; not only for you, but for the thousands of people you will care for and whose lives you will touch in the years to come,” said Mr Battley

“In all of your professional interactions, remember the value of kindness: to show compassion and dignity to your patients and their families; and to take the time to recognise the value and contribution of your peers.

“It is an honour to stand here today as your peer, to congratulate you on reaching the high level of skill, capability and confidence Mater Education expects of its graduates, and to welcome you to this noble and rewarding profession.”

The event also marked a significant milestone for Mater Education, as its largest graduating cohort to date which included two worthy scholarship students: Sara Saeidi, recipient of the Refugee Scholarship; and Jamie Maney, recipient of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship (L - R, pictured above).
