Introduction to Simulation Methodology

As a nationally recognised leader in the field of healthcare simulation, Mater Education is at the forefront of training organisations and their people to use this immersive technique to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes for enhanced clinical outcomes.

The Mater Education Introduction to Simulation (SIM) Methodology program provides professionals in a range of fields—not just healthcare—with the knowledge and skills required to develop, deliver and evaluate simulated education and training activities.

Under the tutelage of our team of simulation experts, program participants will learn how to create a challenging and safe simulated learning environment and develop the refined debriefing skills to get the most out of each simulation exercise. Participants will be given the opportunity to apply theory to practice by designing and writing their own simulation scenarios. The opportunity for evaluation of the scenario design and functionality will come in the form of peer review following implementation of the simulation.

Who should attend?

Our Introduction to SIM Methodology program has been designed for professionals from both healthcare and non-healthcare backgrounds* wanted to develop skills in the  development and delivery of simulation based education and training activities.

*It is preferable that participants have some understanding of education in the workplace.

    • demonstrate a knowledge of the role and application of simulation in healthcare
    • consider evaluation strategies for simulation activities
    • develop, deliver and review the elements required to build a scenario
    • demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a safe and challenging learning environment
    • apply a structured framework and the principles of debriefing to conduct a post simulation debrief.
