Healthcare Terminology

A good understanding of healthcare terminology is vital for anyone working, or wanting to pursue a role in the industry. In both clinical and non-clinical roles being able to recognise and easily use healthcare terminology contributes to almost everything that is read, written, billed and communicated.

Mater Education’s Healthcare Terminology course provides the knowledge and skills required to interpret and apply this language in a range of healthcare settings, while unravelling the mysteries of our Latin-based medical language.

The course is taught by our team of industry experts and covers the following key areas of study:

  • word building—understanding stem words
  • prefixes and suffixes body systems
  • common accepted abbreviations
  • using medical terminology in both verbal and written communication.
